Who we are
Foldmere is a UK web design and development business. This website is operated by Foldmere. For privacy questions, requests or concerns, email hello@foldmere.co.uk.
This notice applies when you visit foldmere.co.uk, send us an enquiry, complete our project questionnaire or communicate with us about a potential project.
Information we collect
When you contact us, we may collect information you choose to provide, including:
- your name and email address;
- your business name and public website or social profile;
- information about your website, services, goals, budget and preferred launch timing;
- your answers to our project questionnaire; and
- any other information you include in an enquiry or message.
Our hosting and security providers may also receive limited technical information when you use the site, such as your IP address, browser or device information, request details and server logs.
Please do not send passwords, payment card details or private customer information through our enquiry forms.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and discuss your requirements;
- review project information and prepare quotes or recommendations;
- save your enquiry and provide a reference number;
- send service messages, such as enquiry confirmations;
- keep appropriate business records; and
- protect, maintain and troubleshoot our website and systems.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use information submitted through our enquiry forms for unrelated advertising.
Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for using personal information. Depending on the situation, we rely on:
- steps before a contract, when you ask us to discuss, scope or quote for a project;
- contract, where processing is needed to provide agreed services;
- legitimate interests, where reasonably necessary to run and protect our business, manage enquiries, keep records and improve our service, while considering your rights; and
- legal obligation, where we need to keep or disclose information to comply with the law.
Who we use to provide the service
We use trusted service providers to run Foldmere. They process information for us only where needed for their role. Current providers include:
- Vercel for website hosting and delivery;
- Supabase for storing enquiry data and private account authentication;
- Resend for transactional enquiry emails; and
- Google Workspace for business email and internal communications.
We may also share information with professional advisers or public authorities where this is reasonably necessary or legally required.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers operate internationally or may process information outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we expect the provider to use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual safeguards.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected for.
Enquiries that do not become projects are normally kept for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless there is a reason to keep them longer or you ask us to delete them sooner and we have no legal or legitimate reason to retain them. If you become a client, some project, contract, accounting or correspondence records may need to be kept for longer.
Technical logs are kept according to the retention settings of the relevant service provider and our security needs.
Cookies and similar technology
The public Foldmere website does not currently use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not currently use non-essential analytics cookies.
The private Foldmere enquiries area uses a necessary authentication cookie after an authorised Foldmere user signs in. It is used to keep that private session secure and is not used for advertising or visitor tracking.
If our use of cookies or analytics changes, we will update this policy and add any consent controls required by law.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access your personal information, correct it, ask for it to be deleted, restrict its use, object to certain processing or receive a portable copy.
You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
To make a request, email hello@foldmere.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled. Visit ico.org.uk for details.
Automated decision-making
We do not use the information submitted through our enquiry forms to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page with the updated date shown above.
